Happy Thanksgiving!

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, Carolan Properties would like to extend a special 'thank you' to all of our friends in Sun City Lincoln Hills and beyond.  Thanksgiving is a time for togetherness... it's an occasion to be spent in the warm and loving company of family, loved ones and friends enjoying turkey roast and pumpkin pies with them.  Thanksgiving is also an opportunity to renew the ties that bind us with the ones we love... it is a time for remembering, cherishing and being thankful for all the good things you have been blessed with.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Penny

Fall Colors in Lincoln Hills!

We were lucky enough to have a longer summer this year in Lincoln Hills, but now the weather is changing... along with all of the beautiful trees!  This is a perfect time to talk briefly about the breathtaking grounds here in Lincoln Hills.

The Community Association maintains all of the landscape corridors, medians, parks and open space areas.  Parks and landscape corridors were built to encourage walking and bicycling as appealing alternatives to motor vehicle travel in Sun City Lincoln Hills.  Linkages between parks, open space and paths allow residents considerable convenience to move within the community.  The "Villages" (different neighborhoods) throughout Sun City  Lincoln Hills are separated and buffered by natural open space drainages, environmentally sensitive areas, tree stands, etc., to help create a sense of identity and community.  Each homeowner is required to pay $103 per month (collected quarterly) in association dues.  These dues cover many things including: the two clubhouses, the sports complex, common areas and maintenance/landscaping... just to mention a few.  In 2008, the Community Association had almost $2.5 million allocated for the Landscape maintenance in Lincoln Hills.  It is money well spent - Sun City Lincoln Hills is pristine all year long!

Lincoln Hills Holiday Craft Fair!

It was perfect fall weather this weekend to put us in the "holiday" mood.  The ninth annual Lincoln Hills Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair and Bake Sale was the "happening" in the Orchard Creek Lodge this weekend.  I arrived this morning to see the parking lot full and cars lined up Del Webb Boulevard!  According to resident Beth Barnes, there were 107 vendors participating this year.  Beth has been organized this event since 1999.  An avid crafter herself, she was staking out two tables along with her crafting partner Jean Jones.  Both are so creative and crafty, they have a neat workshop inside Beth's large casita on Barn Valley Lane.  They work like elves all year long!

There was an endless array of beautiful handcrafted items, all made by Lincoln Hills residents.  Wood carving, jewelry, quilted items, Thanksgiving and Christmas decor, tole, ceramics and all sorts of unique one-of-a-kind items.  I spent nearly an hour wandering about and visiting with everyone.  I did my part to help the local economy!!  There was also a yummy bake sale with all of the proceeds going to local Lincoln charities.

This two day event is an honored tradition in Lincoln Hills.  It never fails to amaze me how many creative and gifted people we have living here in our community.

Election Day in Lincoln Hills!

It is no surprise that the residents in Lincoln Hills turned out in record numbers yesterday to vote.  Our community is known to have a very high turn-out in every election.  I visited the polls around 1 o'clock and was told by a monitor that nearly 70% of our communities voters had already been in the building and voted.  While our local news was reporting long lines and wait times, our wait times here were nil.  Like a well oiled machine, the resident volunteers had everything well under control.  Unlike the previous rainy day, the weather was clear and sunny.  There was a small group out in front of the lodge who had voted that were headed to Starbuck's for their free coffee!

There are sixteen voting precincts within Sun City and all of them were situated within the Orchard Creek lodge and Kilaga Springs lodge.  Both parking lots were full of cars.  One of the monitors I spoke with thought that we would see nearly a 90% voter turn-out here!  Impressive to say the least!  We have many here in the community who use the absentee ballot, but the folks I talked with said they like coming in and "pushing the buttons".
